TableCash launched a commit-now, pay-later feature for group plans: everyone puts a card behind their share up front, but no one is charged until enough people commit and the goal fills. It turns a soft “I’m in” into a real, card-backed commitment without asking anyone
TAMPA, US — September 6, 2026 — TableCash today announced the launch of a commit-now, pay-later feature for group plans. It solves the oldest problem in getting a group together: you need to book the house, the cabin, or a block of tickets, but you cannot front the whole cost alone, and half the group “is in” right up until it is time to pay.
Here is how it works. The organizer sets a goal for the plan, such as a shared rental. Each person saves a card and promises their share, and nothing is charged in that moment. When enough people have committed and the goal fills, everyone’s card runs at once and the plan is funded together. Before the goal fills, a person can take back their promise. The moment it fills, that promise becomes binding, so no one can back out mid-charge and leave the rest of the group short.
The result is that a soft “yeah, I’m in” becomes a real, card-backed commitment, without asking anyone to pay weeks early. Commit now, the cards run later, and no single person has to carry the risk of a group that flakes.
“Every group plan dies in the same place, the moment someone has to actually pay,” said James Joseph, Founder of TableCash. “People say they’re in, then they go quiet, and one person ends up covering it. This fixes that. Everyone puts a real card behind their promise up front, but nobody gets charged until enough people have committed to make the plan happen. You get the certainty of a deposit without asking your friends to pay for a trip that isn’t booked yet.”
The feature is part of TableCash’s broader model as a group fund app. One organizer creates a table for a purpose, the people they invite chip in with a card, and the organizer controls what leaves while everyone at the table sees every dollar. TableCash is built on Stripe, and contributions settle directly to the organizer’s own connected account.
TableCash is available on iOS and Android. To learn more, visit https://tablecash.app.
